This past month I announced my first ever STP Senior Representative Program and I am so lucky to have three beautiful seniors to represent STP for the upcoming year! I wanted to make sure we kicked the program off right and what better way to do that than a gorgeous styled shoot?!
I knew I wanted the styled shoot to reflect me and my brand, but most of all, show off three very special ladies. I decided on a "pastel dessert" theme and I couldn't have been happier! It's no secret that I love my desserts... but mix that with beautiful neutrals, blush tones, soft blues and greens, and sprinkle it with gold and I was over the moon!
The session took place on the grounds of the beautiful Woodland Manor (Located in Dunnsville, Virginia; just a few miles outside of Tappahannock, Virginia). This historic manor is nestled among beautiful Sycamore and Magnolia trees and creates a beautiful atmosphere for both weddings and events! The manor consists of everything from a banquet room to a formal dining room and even a full English basement (otherwise known as "Pub 17"). The owners welcomed us into the manor with open arms and opened up the bridal suite for the girls to get ready in! The girls snacked on fresh fruits, chocolates and sparkling waters while having hair and makeup done (by Sharon Buchner).
Fresh flowers were provided by King William Florist, a team of sisters located just twenty miles east of Richmond and known for creating beautiful wedding florals. Their centerpiece just made the entire shoot come together and I was in love! They put together a beautiful selection of neutral and blush toned flowers (including my all time favorite...peonies!) and nestled them into a golden vase which brought the whole table to life! They even added some fresh flowers to top the cake- the perfect detail!
Upon arriving to the session, there were some fresh flowers left from an event held just a few nights prior (the owner of Woodland Manor happens to have a daughter who is a florist located in Mechanicsville, Virginia; Black Creek Flowers and Sweets). The flowers were already arranged into beautiful tea pots matching our theme perfectly (what are the odds?). We added them to the table, and we had a table full of beautiful flowers!
My passion for food isn't a secret. In fact, I first started in photography doing food photography- which is still a passion of mine! I knew my styled shoot needed to have a "food" theme. Mix that with the hard core sweet tooth I have, and I knew using desserts was a must!
I have a lot of favorites when it comes to desserts, but I am not sure if there is anything I love more than fresh macarons. If you have never been to Whisk before, I am going to need you to stop what you're doing and go right now. Like, right now. This bakery is located on E. Main Street in Richmond Virginia and I adore it. Whisk provided the macarons used for the session and I sent my husband (the faithful errand boy that he was that day!) to Richmond to pick them up the morning of the shoot. I was trying to send him 'mental vibes' all morning... "please buy macarons while you are there so I can eat them." I kept thinking it all morning, over and over, extra hard-hoping if I thought it hard enough my husband would catch my vibes...and he did! Not only did we have the beautiful macarons for the styled shoot but now I had my own personal stash...that's why I married him! My sister (who lives in Richmond) joined me for the session to help setting up, styling, etc. and once she heard where the macarons were from she lit up and exclaimed Whisk is a favorite place of hers! If a local recommends it, you know it's good! Also, I can report back and let you know that my personal stash was gone by Monday and I have been thinking about them ever since.
I can't think of enough nice things to say about the cookies provided by It's All Sugar 2 Me (check them out on Instagram and Facebook!). Not only did they look great, but they were delicious too! I first reached out to Cari after seeing her work at an event done by another photographer and friend of mine, and I knew I wanted to incorporate these cookies into this session! She was able to duplicate my logo onto the cookies as well as make smaller cookies that said "senior," "2018," and also ones that featured my secondary logo. She used my branding/session colors of blush, gold and dark grey and they were perfect! The girls loved these and we had so much fun with them. Also, I can safely say they were very much kid approved!
The simply beautiful cupcakes came from Michelle's Sweet Treats, a quaint bakery located in the heart of the small town of Warsaw, Va. These vanilla cupcakes were topped with beautiful shades of buttercream frosting and garnished with tiny pearls to complete their look! The girls were eyeing these cupcakes during the whole session and couldn't wait to dive in as soon as we were done shooting! If you're ever in Warsaw, I highly recommend stopping by; you will find lots of goodies which make the perfect treat to take to the park across the street to enjoy (My kids and I can speak from personal experience!).
Of course, I have to show off these three pretty ladies too!
